Private ADHD Titration
There is a current national shortage of medications that treat ADHD symptoms. This is due to manufacturing issues and the growing demand for ADHD medications worldwide.

Our service is private ADHD titration instead of waiting for NHS funding via Right to Choose. Our assessment fees cover the cost of a single prescription.
Titration
A comprehensive assessment of your ADHD symptoms will be carried out by a highly experienced consultant psychiatrist. This includes a complete medical history and an assessment using the common ADHD questionnaires and rating scales.
After your evaluation, you will be informed if medication is considered to be beneficial in your case. This will take place during your follow-up appointment (which can be done in person, via video link or by phone). Your physician will go over the various options for medications available. If you decide to begin medication, we will offer you to titrate your dose to ensure the best balance of benefits and side effects for you.
This is a process which can take several weeks, and involves adjusting your child's medication slowly until the right balance is reached. It is not unusual to need to titrate three or four medications before determining the most effective one for your child's ADHD symptoms. It is essential for parents to be involved in this titration process and keep a close watchful eye on their child's behavior so that they can inform the doctor whether the medication is working or causing adverse effects.
If you decide to go back to NHS treatment you will be issued an individual prescription for your medication. You will have to pay for your prescription at the pharmacy. This is not included in the consultation cost. You'll be required to attend every six months to check your medication, which includes pulse and blood pressure readings. Annual reviews are also mandatory.
Follow-up appointments
After the assessment is completed, you'll be able to schedule follow-up appointments with your psychiatrist, if necessary. ADHD titration private will usually be conducted by video conference using zoom. However, in certain cases, it may be possible to have an audio-only appointment to be scheduled (again with an additional cost).
We will then discuss the options for treatment and then decide on an individualised, bespoke ADHD medication titration. This will include an assessment of your medication dosage and a discussion around any adverse effects you may be experiencing. The titration sessions cost PS150 for face-toface sessions and PS60 via telephone or video consultation. Medication costs are additional and are paid directly to the pharmacy.
The psychiatrist will ask you questions regarding your family history, the impact of your ADHD symptoms on your life and any mental health issues you might be suffering from. ADHD is a genetic condition, which is why it's crucial to assess your family history to determine if you are at a greater risk of developing this disorder.
During this examination, it is crucial that you are truthful and honest with the clinician, as they will use the information you provide to determine if you are able to meet the diagnostic criteria for ADHD. This is a crucial step, since an incorrect diagnosis could result in an inappropriate prescription of medication.
If you have decided that you'd like to be treated for your ADHD, we will then schedule a follow-up appointment with one of our psychiatrists who specialise in this area. This can be scheduled in the wake of your diagnosis if you are eager to begin treatment immediately, or within two weeks if would like more time to consider the implications of your diagnosis and the options available to you.
If you are unsure of which one you prefer We suggest you talk to your GP prior to scheduling your private examination as some providers have different policies about whether they require an GP referral letter or not. Check if your GP accepts a Shared Care Agreement, which means you will be referred to them after you leave the clinic for prescriptions for medication.
Medication
Medication is a key part of the journey for many people who are looking for an official ADHD diagnosis. Finding a prescription from an NHS psychiatrist can be difficult and lengthy. NHS waiting lists can be extremely long, and GPs may be reluctant to refer patients to specialist services.
Inquiring your GP to refer you to Right to Choose is one way to avoid this (see psychiatry UK and ADHD 360). You can select a provider that offers an assessment that is private and the titration. This can cut down on wait time by a significant amount and is more convenient if you're working and have a hectic schedule.
If you are identified as a candidate for this treatment the doctor you choose will examine you and decide whether or not you're required to be monitored for a dose of medication. You will be asked to fill out forms that are different for each provider, but the most important ones are self-report questionnaires and medical histories from childhood to adulthood. These forms will allow your doctor to determine if there are any reasons that suggest you shouldn't be taking ADHD medication, even in the event that they've been prescribed.
If you are being titrated, the medication will consist of stimulants and non-stimulant drugs. They will be carefully tested and monitored to determine the most effective combination for you, taking into account any medical conditions you may have. The titration can be a lengthy process and may require several extra appointments before the dose becomes stable.
Depending on the kind of medication you're taking, follow-up appointments could be scheduled monthly or quarterly. Your clinician will check whether you are stable on the medication, document any adverse reactions you've experienced and make any necessary adjustments to ensure that you remain on a dose that is safe. titration ADHD 'll also have to attend a regular health check, which could include blood pressure and pulse readings, as well as weight and weight measurements and an annual review.
For some people, it may be that they are satisfied with their medication and don't need an additional discussion regarding their titration. For those who require further discussion about their titration and treatment plan it is possible that they will be passed back to the private clinic that conducted their initial assessment. If this occurs, the titration appointment will be included in their consultation fees and they will be given their medication on private prescription (see Consultation fees above). This could cost more than an NHS prescription as the pharmacy will charge for the medication.
